mri deocded help needed

I just got back from a Neuro Dr. visit and he gave me my MRI results, it said I have left sided HNP at C6-C7 extending toward foramina. Mild osteophytic ridging at c5-c6 centrally and to the left. Can anyone explain this to me? I have searched medical dictionary online but it does not give me any answers..it just forwards me to some other off topic area. I have right arm pain have had bilateral CTS and have right cubital tunnel. I am just trying to find an alternative to surgery( especially since it seems you just have to get it redone) and pain pills. Any suggestions I will definitely appreciate it !!!:)

Didn't your nuero sugest any treatments? If not ask him. You have a herniated disc at the C6/C7 level putting pressure on the nerve root that leaves the spine down your arms. The foramin is the hole between the veterbrae when stacked together for the nerve to exit. It is being piched by the herniated disc. C5/C6 I wouldn't worry to much about. This has nothing to do with carpel tunnel but can cause some of the arm pain and numbness in your arm or hand. There are minimaly invasive surgeries that you could be candiate for. But a fusion my be in order, if he recomends surgery ask about alternatives. Injections can help the pain and give you more time to see if the alternative procedures will work. Google, neck fusion or neck pain or anything related.

hope I help

you have bone spurs..pinched nerve..if you are losing muscle or the pain is too much you will need fusion surgery..pretty routine..at 57 I made a quick recovery with little pain..I have my life back..good luck
