mri results

12 wks of chronic pain, left leg, upper leg,calf and numbness in foot.some lower back pain and then a frozen left shoulder as well!
mri results - moderate lower lumbar disc degenerative changes.L4/5 shallow,broad based disc herniation with no frank neural compression.Chronic bone marrow endplate signal changes.L5/S1 is a focal left para central disc extrusion causes compression of the traversing left S1 nerve root in the lateral recess.other discs are normal .normal distal cord,conus, and cauda.no foraminal or para vertebral abnormality.the bone marrow signal is otherwise normal.
need help working out what this

I will assume that your pain corelates to the injury (lumbar herniation).

What has you doctor suggested to you?

Yikes, A frozen shoulder sounds awful! You don't need that in addition to your back pain. Glad it is feeling better.

Thank u for your advice -did as you suggested got a brilliant explanation of this part o the mri results.
frozen shoulder is where the arm feels "stuck" and to move it results in more acute/chronic pain,presumming its a result of the constant tenseness and one sleep position due to the other problems,it is getting better!!!

sounds like you have a herniation at the L5/S1 and it is compressing (or touching) the s1 nerve root.

Do a web search for L5/S1 herniation and radiating pain... see if that corelates to the pain you have.

The shoulder is not related to your lumbar problem.

Not sure what is frozen shoulder is.. does that mean you can't move it?
