I was like that on many of the SSRI's including Zoloft. I highly recommend you get in to see a psychiatrist. I was "buzzed" and happy most of twenties(on Zoloft) except a few drops totally. My GP put me on Zoloft, and I was a happy bunny lol. I was hypersexual, being the life of the party all of the time, making arrangements that you realize I can't do, ie: volunteering too much, or reading 4 books at any given time, even doing projects that you can't always complete. I was a compulsive shopper, I didn't know that was part of if. I got into debt way more then I could handle. Doing anything risky is also a sign, like having random one night stands, or in a relationship being unable to stop cheating.
I was blown away that those things were part of it. Going in to a shrink you will either get diagnosed with some mood disorder, or get a med tweaked. Worth a shot anyways right?
Hi. I'm a male and I have been hypersexual for a long time, don't know if I'm bipolar or not. The doctor I go to just prescribed me with zoloft, but he ask me if I were bipolar and I don't him I don't exibit any of the symptoms, and I very rarely ever get depressed. So the doctor went ahead and prescribed the medicine for me, but he said if Iam bipolar than this medication will only make my hypersexuality worse. When you get the sexual urges do you lose all inhibitions, I do it is like the sexual urges just take over.
Like most of you, I'm in hyposexual mode in the Spring/Summer timeframe. Maybe there is something to this season. Looking for any help to control my sexual urges. My marriage is falling apart and I'm close to losing my family.
since you put it like that it makes alot of sense. thats why i love this site.
Well DANG! I guess my meds are working cause my hypersexuality has just crashed! Super POOP! LOL Spring and Summer USED to be my high times as well and I do think the seasons play a role - look at nature! Babies are born to animals in the spring! It's a natural instinct very "animalistic" if you will (if ya wanna get all psychoanalytic about it) The phrase "twiterpatted" comes to mind from BAMBI! We are programmed instinctually to breed. Spring and Summer are the times to "plant and sow" and so it goes with mating. The temperatures are warmer and we are more active have more energy and yada, yada...But here's wishing that I had alittle more of that at this moment! I'm sure my husband would be appreciative! LOL
have your symptoms heightened now or seem to be settling down yet
I am so glad that you guys feel the same way
That is so true, believe me when i say i am trying everything but to no avail. I cant keep myself locked up in my room all the time and i cannot sleep all night i do have my son to take care of. but the medication is not give me no choice.(on seroquel and depakote) i had to stop the depakote though its just not working for me
that just means long up cycles... harder down cycles.. hmm something to look into.
i think the seasons play a major role. especially with the temperature changing.
I think we may have something here. Spring is also my sexual overdrive time.. It last threw summer and sometimes deep into fall. Winter is always a depressive inward time for me. So how many folks think the seasons may play more of a role in our disorder?
same for me as well. it normally starts during early spring for me. i try to contain it and fight it but it does get overwhelming.
My hypersexuality usually dominates my manic episodes and it can last months.
i totally understand what you are going through. but how long does ur hypersexuality usually last as well as your mania.
