it's good that your pdoc thought of seroquel. i believe he hit right, it's the drug i believe for his situation.
I never tried CBT correctly myself though it is said it helps provided you find a therapist who can do it right except of talking nonsense to you like the one i met. my modest view is that it can help in the long range not the short one when like in this situation you have an acute one and you want to intervene fast. But of course like IL said anything agreed upon in medicine helps here and there most often, because the illness itself keeps changing and very much unstable and of different types and often comorbid with other symptoms, e.g OCD,....
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is therapy where the therapist tries to retrain the thought process of the individual. I've done CBT, I've been through CBT and basically the therapist helps you figure out how to analyze your own thoughts and use your mind to replace them with better or more productive thoughts. I was told it would help with my mood and anxiety, it really only helped me with my anxiety and only to a certain extent.
At least that's how I understood it I don't think I had a very great therapist helping me anyways.
What exactly is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Thanks.
Anger can be part of moodswings. Speak to his psychiatrist about this. As well cognitive behavioral therapy and talk therapy can be helpful.
