Bipolar forgetful boyfriend

So my boyfriend was recently diagnosed with bipolar. His forgetfulness can be frustrating. Like today he forgot we had plans and he's forgotten about me more than once. sometimes it just hurts Bc I can't help but think is it really the bipolar/meds that make him so forgetful or if it's him losing interest. He tells me he's crazy about me and that isnt the case at all...I guess it's hard for me to really understand how the bipolar effects him and I try to be understanding but sometimes the forgetfulness gets the best of my anger :/
I saw a post about someone who switched their meds after speaking to their doctor and it significantly helped their memory loss so I'm thinking of bringing that up to my bf as a possibility.

Any tips for me on how to cope with this change a little better than I have been?

You may want to check out DBSA for support groups. They have one just for the family members. You'll learn a lot.

He functions well on his meds. he says they make him feel drowsy most of the day and forgetful. He's in between jobs right now but he's still able to pay his bills on time with what he has. I've never seen his emotions swing while we're together

Hi. Im bipolar as well. My boyfriend gets very trusts with me bc i used to forget things all the time. The best advice is to indeed talk with the doctor about a possible med switch. If he just found out he is bipolar, it is a difficult time of trail and error. Not to discourage you in any way but it took almost 2 years of trial and error to correct my medications. You are his best support system and i know it can be rough bur try and hang in there. Hope for the best for yall!
