Thanks Crystal!
I'm in CR now but will tell my Pdoc upon my return.
The stimulating side effect is ok for now,as long as it doesn't cause a manic episode. Pdoc knows I'm bipolar!!
You could just be very sensitive to this med. Talk to your dr about how your feeling. He may have you cut the Klonopin in half again. I have had to do this with some meds. Keep in mind that Visteral is also used for anxiety and is not addicting or a Benzo. It's always best to talk to your dr even if you just call him/her and tell them what's going.
This is the second post I have read you comment on. Although I'm sure you mean well, telling people that you have never heard of a med doing such and such is wrong to say. Everybody's body is different and reacts to meds differently. Anyone can have any type of reaction to a med that is out of the "norm".
Klonopin is an anti-anxiety (benzodiazepine) med as well as Ativan. Klonopin is the longest acting benzo (stays in your system for many days) whereas Ativan is one of the shortest acting benzos. Xanax is another short-acting benzo (4 hrs). All of them work basically the same. I never heard of a benzo creating a stimulating effect before. You might expect that from ritalin, adderall and SSRI anti-depressants (which can cause agitation or mania in BP persons).
Thanks IL Advocate. So the elevated feeling is a side effect, not the purpose of the drug. Ok. The Klonipin helps more than adivan. The new PDoc has me taking Adivan with Geodone at night. I'm reluctant to inc the adivan. It's been 8 months & the adivan isn't working. Her responces are the two work with each other. She gets offended easily & acts cocky when I bring up med issues. She has helped me more than my previous 4 Pdocs though, so I'll stay with her for now. Maxy
That can be one potential side effect of Klonopin. I experience that at higher doses (within the prescription limit I am allowed to take). The best thing to do would be to let your psychiatrist know and they could advise you what to do and keep track of it and see how it goes over time.
