DOES ANYONE IN THIS FORUM KNOW ABOUT DEPAKOTE????

I kneed info about depakote.does itwork? what are the side affects?

My husband takes depakote and it has literallly saved is life. He was diagnosed with biploar. I finally got my husband back. Ou have no clue what this pill has done for him

I took it for a little while. I'd look it up, but from what I remember, it's usually used an anti-seizure med but can also prevent mood swings. It causes drowsiness and sometimes a little weight gain. (I didn't gain any, personally, but I was on a low dose.) Also, I agree with Nikki--- it can take a lot of trial and error to find the right med. It can also take awhile to kick in.

Try googling it.  Or look it up on webmd.  That is what I did to find out about the new medicine I am on.  You can search medications alphabeticaly on webmd and it will give you lots of  good info without too much confusing medical terminology.  It is hard to say if it works or not, because just about all medicines work for some people and not for others.  It seems to be a trial and error sort of thing.  Good luck.
