Does my friend have bipolar disorder?

I don't know if I'm just overreacting, but one of my friends has recently (within the past few months, and maybe year) been exhibing incomprehensible behavior. However, I can follow his thought patterns - just not his emotional patterns. He has been driving his friends away with his irritability and argumentative nature. Many of his friends feel that they are always walking on eggshells. One night he expressed frustration at anyone who did not want to follow his "plan" to go out and have a fun time. He expressed desires to drink, smoke weed, and do just about anything he could to "have fun for once." (I know that that shouldn't be super unusual, but it was just very strange in the context and random; I'd never seen him act like that before.) Fifteen minutes after he started driving, he suddenly completely changed his plans, said that he had thought about some things, and decided not to follow through with anything he had said we would do. He didn't seem to think this was strange at all. He would often ignore us and call other people on the phone or talk to others. Sometimes he drives dangerously, in spite of what others tell him. He also occasionally flips out on people and becomes very angry.

Many of these behaviors could just relate to him acting like a jerk, but I'm starting to wonder if it's more severe. I had never seen that side of him before, though his closer friends had.

I guess posting again is pointless, but it turns out that he has been having problems with his girlfriend and has become unsatisfied with his college. He has also rediscovered the joys of drinking and "flirting". Should I still be concerned at all with him having bipolar disorder?

I will talk to him, but we aren't best friends. I remember now that the only other two times I had hung out with him throughout the past month he was very distractable, and especially on that night, extremely fidgety. Thanks a lot for replying.

sounds a little bi polar but he should be evaluated by a psychiatrist.         Have a talk with him  and tell him these bizarre behaviors are alarming you and that he can ssee about getting help from a therapist. goood luck to you.
