Yes having some difficulty socializing is not to easy to address but it can be done. You might try going to a support group first to see if that helps. There are pragmatic ways to take care of organizing things and dealing with difficulties with concentrating and focusing such as keeping a notebook and also specific computer programs that can help. Also if its in the work place setting up accommodations around this concern can help. Also in addition to medication and talk therapy cognitive behavioral therapy can be helpful in this regard.

I have been there in spades! ILADVOCATE has a lot of good ideas, and indeed they will work....in time. For a time I had to not answer phones or have the tv on so I could think. I carried a post it note pad, and would write things down that needed to be done, and if I could remember, would place the note near where it could be addressed. Stressed out comes with the territory, because you are trying to live up to your expectations of yourself, without adding in the difficulties that you have to deal with.
For myself, seeing a therapist helped a LOT. She helped me sort out the musts and needs from the should's and wishes. She helped me to deal with the NOW...not what had been. I was helped to develop strategies to plan for the future. She referred me to a specialist when I needed it, and worked as a team with myself and him.
Good luck as one who has been there, and visits there every so often!

Have you spoken with a counselor about how you're feeling?  Overwhelmed seems to be an understatement for what you're going through.  I find the best thing to do when you're feeling swamped is to sit back and make a very simple 'to do' list, even if it's in your head (although on paper it seems more effective)
It takes your mind off your current job so you don't have that stress hanging over your head and you can get things in order.  I go through this a lot, my office can be quite a mess if I'm not paying attention, so much so, I can't put my laptop down on the front anymore.

You can start with clearly off your desk itself, if it's papers, sit down in your nice comfy chair with an armful of papers and just go through them, throw the junk away and put the important papers in a secure place.  Once your desk is in order you might find yourself very relieved and more willing to work on what you need to because you have better access.  Clutter can cause quite a bit anxiety all by itself, so try this and see how it works for you.
