Could be bipolar disorder but may also be borderline personality disorder or both. The reason I mention BPD is because it tends to involve self harm based on guilt, and spur of the moment suicidal attempts and can involve rage.
Whatever 'it' is, you will need to go and see a psychiatrist. They can help. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could even see 1/2 your symptoms go away? It is really hard to admit there is a problem, and hard to go and get the help you need, but it is so important.
Oh and just make sure that you tell them ALL of your symptoms. So they can get the most accurate diagnosis, and treat all of your symptoms. Write them down if you have to and take it with you when you go for an evaluation.
The thing to remember about bipolar disorder is that there are highs and lows. Depression and manic. I am sure most people know what depression is about, but the manic side seems to be less known. In a manic state you think really fast this is called racing thoughts. You can have thoughts of grandure or enflated self esteem. Become more goal oriented. Feel like you can do anything. Have increased sex drive. Become involved in risky or dangerous behavior. Have delusional thoughts, and/or hallucinations. Have trouble sleeping, trouble going to sleep, waking up after a few hours. Irratability and mood swings are also a key feature of bipolar disorder in general. Though there are many other mental illnesses that can cause the symptoms you described, and sometimes the symptoms can overlap diffrent disorders. So you could be diagnosed with more than one thing as well. I agree you should get an evaluation from a psychatrist as they are the only ones that can give you a diagnosis. Good luck.
Definitely go see a psychiatrist. There are so many different things it could be. They are the best way to get answers.
Yeah sounds like it could potentially be bipolar disorder, but I would check with a psychiatrist first since they're the only ones who can make a definitive diagnosis.
You should consider seeing a psychiatrist for diagnosis and treatment. What you are describing doesn't necessarily mean bipolar. There are other conditions that cause mood swings, for example Borderline Personality Disorder, that could be your problem.
