Meds/anxiety

I have manic depression and high anxiety.  I take 600mg of Lithium and 1mg of xanax xr. Due to lack of insurance I have to now go to a Mental Health Clinic in my county and I found out today they won't prescribe my xanax because of history of addiction in my family and when I was 15 I used drugs for a little while. They typically don't prescribe narcotics there anyhow. I'm very very frustrated because the xanax has provided the most relief from my anxiety and helps me sleep. They prescribed Trazadone to help me sleep but I'm not sure if I've ever heard of it? Im scared for when I'm not going to have the xanax anymore. I've only been on it since April but I don't know how I'm going to deal. I have very high anxiety. That and mental illness also runs in my family. I don't know what I'm going to do..I don't have insurance and I can't afford to go to a regular Dr. I'm really really freaking out :(

My main concern is the anxiety..I used the Trazadone last night and it helped alot..it just made me feel a little messed up which is weird because I never felt anything other than anxiety relief from the xanax.
I have really high anxiety and it's hard to deal with, I don't know if I am strong enough to deal without a benzo of some kind. I've been on so many different medications and nothing has helped. Just the xanax. My OB prescribed it in the first place because he thought I would benifit from it and also told me if I couldn't get a Dr before my insurance ran out to come back and see him and he would write it for me again. So I'm going to see him tomrw and tell him everything and hopefully he'll write it again. If not then...I don't even know, I don't want to think about it..Thanks for the comments!

Tradazone is helpful for some people for sleeping as its also an anti-depressent. The reason I couldn't take it is because it has the potential to cause tardive. I did find Rozerem which adjusts the sleep cycle like melatonin but is an FDA approved medication that is safe and non addictive to be relatively effect but each person responds differently to each medication. Xanax  has a higher potential for addiction than other benzos and is generally used short term and longer lasting ones such as Klonopin generally used long term but that's a doctor's decision and some won't use benzos at all so it depends. There are other options though as regards sleeping that aren't in this category that they would potentially use.
