Psycologically Difficult to Swallow Pills

Hi, I'm rapidly developing a problem with taking my medication.
Ever day it gets harder and harder to swallow my medicine without feeling like I'm choking and I get so freaking sick feeling about it. I know I don't take much compared to some other people, just 4 pills/day, but I don't know how much longer I can do this.
The pills aren't that big. I'm absolutely terrified of not being able to swallow my pills and it gets stuck in my throat which does sometime happen. I'm young (20) and I reckon I'll probably have to take these meds for the rest of my life if I want to keep feeling emotionally balanced. I mean, I'll try to stop eventually but right now I think it's right for me.
I honestly wish I could just get a shot of these medications and I hate shots.
Does/did anyone deal with these feelings and have advice to deal with this better?

Have you tried "hiding" the pill in a large spoonful of yoghurt or pudding?

Unfortunately...I already do tilt my head back (diamond-shaped tablet) and drink plenty of water with them.
The choking sensation is physical, nothing to do with anxiety disorder. That I'm sure of.
It's just that I feel it catching on my throat and I freak out that I can't swallow it because then I'll taste it. I hate how tablets taste. and just remembering that taste makes me sick.

I'll try the ice cream tonight and see if that helps. I wonder if I can put pills into jello...Not like crush them, just like...put jello mix stuff into an ice cube tray with a pill in it.
I see my doctor Thursday so I can ask about all these things.
Thank you guys!

I used to have a problem like this when I was  younger, all the way up into my twenties. As a kid my mom would put my pills into a big bite of ice cream. It sort of made them slippery. As I got older I just used more water to get them down, but I had a big problem with disk shaped pills vs. tablet shaped pills. Those really did make me choke and I was terrified of them.

Finally I came to a point where I realized if I had enough water they worked the same way. I don't understand how people swallow dry pills. So, just take a big drink of water with them and see if it helps. If not, then do ask your doctor about it to figure what is going on.

It would depend on what the cause of the choking sensation was, whether it was physical or a part of anxiety disorder (which can have physical symptoms such as a choking sensation) or some other cause. Best to speak to your doctor and they can see why this is happening and what to do about it.
