Can I commit my pregnant daughter that is bipolar and using weed?

My daughter is 20 years old and is living with a man she is pregnant and is bipolar and is smoking weed can I commit her to a Psych hospital because she is unfit to carry the baby and to have the baby?? I feel she needs to be in a Psych hospital where she is being treated and monitored because she is so unstable.

She does not go to the Dr. frequently she didn't go to see the Obgyn for the baby until a few days ago. I thank you very much for all of the advice it has helped me out immensly. She will want to keep the baby because she now has a boyfriend but she threatens to smoke weed as she calls to "make it stupid" so her ex boyfriend will have to pay more child support which I know will not happen.

She is dangerous to herself at times she threatens suicide at times and posts it on her facebook.

Yes also as was noted she should be seeing a Ob-Gyn who could then consult with a psychiatrist about what medications she could safely take during pregnancy.

She can only be required to stay in a psychiatric hospital if she is in the category of "dangerous to herself or others'. The specifics of the law differ from state to state but those are the main categories. However it would be worthwhile to encourage her to see a psychiatrist and also join a dual recovery group for a person with a psychiatric disability and a substance abuse issue.

I doubt u can accomplish that. better to help her get fixed so as not to get pg and pass on a terrible life long disease but as to this baby; do the best u can
as to smoking pot; unless it is all day it is probably low on her worry list
can the child be adopted out or is she insistent on raising the child. (to me the worry is the lifetime of mental illness over smoking pot)
does she take meds and what does her dr say about the meds and pregnancy
good luck

Do you have power of attorney over her and her affairs?  If not, You can try talk to her doc, but he doesn't have to listen to you, or discuss anything with you concerning her, and i doubt he would consider having her committed for smoking pot.
Smoking weed isn't really very high on the priority list either as far as causing  damage to her unborn baby goes, although it's a real stupid thing to do for someone who has manic depression, because weed is a depressant, and could possibly trigger a severe episode.

Is your daughter good as far as taking her meds goes?  Does she get  high (from her disorder) often that results in  her having to be booked in and stabilized at the phyc hospital?

If not, she is an adult and can do as she likes, including smoking pot. Best you can do is have her busted for buying or possesion a few times.
