How do you call this

Hi

starting 2 months ago and even much before but more pronounced recently that I can't sit for long in one place, i would go to work then sit on my desk then need to move, go to the cafeteria to eat something then upstairs then downstairs, and same in the afternoon i would go to the club and sit somewhere then changed my mind or can't stay still for long and go somewhere else then go to buy a book not necessarily that i will complete reading it, etc... etc... distractability, can't read for long, one paragraph at most, etc.. so you can say no aim, no patience, my life is standstill

is it my illness (BP) ? or an associated ADHD, or akathesia, or restless leg syndrome from the melange (mix) of the many antipsychotics (risperidone, seroquel, stelazine)

is there an extra pill for this?
PS: my mania hasn't finished yet but it is subsiding

many thanks

another question if i am considering an MS, would gabapentin (neurontin) help - I don't mean for the above - but instead of the many AP's i take for my BP. This drug is weak but did anybody benefitted from it

thanks again

thank you for your answer although after 2 years. anyway i think still i have plenty of the above. what is good though i said farewell to depression and my problem is hypomania and mixed states. i'm still on my AP's. Of course i fear from the risk of TD, diabetes etc...but i am just coping.

Going back to ILADVOCATE you say the restless leg synd.. is from the AP's. However i know with schizo... pts also are restless meaning higher dopamine and the AP\s reduce on the contrary the dopamine. I don't understand here !! If one accepts the fact that the illness is a spectrum from depression extreme left to schiz.. extreme right the with higher dopamine one tends to become psychotic so moving also then with the AP;s this is reduced!! NOT increased but as you said (accepted by psych) that with AP's there is a motor activity!!
thanks anyway

I would say you are probably hypo-manic and should get to a doctor pronto.

Sometimes when a person is manic there is some motor restlessness but if it starts with the use of an antipsychotic it can be akathesia which can be treated with a side effect pill (Cogentin, Artane, Benadryl, beta blockers and benzos are sometimes used, Symmetryl on occassion, ask your psychiatrist which is appropriate). Neurontin is generally used as an adjunct mood stabilizer but it can be of help in this regard. Speak to your psychiatrist about all this.
