Violent upon awakening

I'm a 37 year old female, diagnosed with epilepsy (left temporal lobe), fibromyalgia, and bipolar disorder.  I'm not a violent person, but have noticed several times over the past few years that there have been a few occasions where I have tried to punch my husband if he somehow wakes me up, and I have also pushed my 2 year old son off me and my bed if he has tried to climb in bed and snuggle on me (luckily only once).  The only thing I can remember is feeling someone touching me but it feels like a dream and I suddenly become very angry and lash out.  As soon as I'm fully awake I realize what I've done (sometimes I only partly remember it) and I feel horrible because I would never try to hurt anyone in my family like that.  It doesn't happen very often but it does seem worse when I'm overtired.  I was wondering if this was a symptom of bipolar disorder, and what can I do about it.

I wake up cranky, down right foul moods, I don't like to be startled in any way. I also have a sleep disorder - I don't go into full body paralysis like you are supposed to so I have had boughts of sleep walking, I have even bitten a partner when I have been dead alseep My pdoc said it's quite commonn to wake up like this - only thing I can suggest is set ground rules. I also have a chat with myself before getting up, on clear days, which I know right away, I ask myself, am I going to have a good day or a bad day. I am newly diagnosed and off anti depressants so some days it's just hard. They are still trying to up my doses and find a right balance of mood stabilizers. But know you aren't alone.

In my opinion this does not seem to be symptom of bp -- but only your doctor can properly diagnose you.
I do sometimes have very real dreams and upon waking up I don't know if it was real or a dream -- takes me a moment to figure out I was only dreaming.  Since it happens only occasionally I do not connect it to my bp condition or the meds -- just something that happens once in a while for no particular reason.
