Sometimes it takes a while to find the right dosages and medications but meds are NOT the only way to help with mental disorders. There are some REALLY good behavioral therapies that can help with coping.
Diet can have an affect on how we feel but in regards to the previous comment it's most likely the alcohol that is causing the aggressive behavior not milk...if milk caused aggressive behavior than EVERYONE would be having the issue.
Men are more likely to refuse treatment for bipolar and I know that if my husband was posting about me on public forums that I'd be pissed off. You cannot force him to take his meds and doing so with probably cause more problems and resentment. Maybe suggest counseling or a change in meds, depakote is a hardcore med and does have some pretty unpleasant side effects. There are other mood stabilizers that are just as effective seroquel, and lamictal are just two of the alternatives but this is really his decision. You need to figure out what you want and can handle and then make decisions accordingly, but you cannot make him take the meds if he doesn't want to. Good luck
how are u going to trust a doctors recommendation who DOESNT EVEN BOTHER TO ASK YOU WHAT IT IS THAT YOU ARE PUTTING IN YOUR BODY????
DRUGS ARE NOT THE ANSWER
Dosages are not the answer.. for me, alcohol + dairy products trigger agressive behavior that can last up to 3-5 days later. depeding on what ive been consuming..
please, if you want to help your husband, lets start by outlinining what it is that you are feeding your family..... does he drink alot of coffee?? consume alot of dairy products??? consume alcohol??
psych drugs r not foolproof. doctors need to guess at what might work. go back to the doctors
It that combination is not working, then he needs to go back to the doctor to try something else or get his dosages changed.
