all you on a mood stablizer can you do ur regular duties??

i mean can you do your housework and not get all fateiged??? or is it  kinda yes or kinda no?? when i get started on something i have to stop cuz mania i fill comming on.. i go tomnmrow  to get on meds..i got my ways that i like to stay busy when summer and spring are here..i like to do things..so do these meds just keep ur moods stable? when i was on the lithiem i rember it was in august and i was moving to my place..so i rember feeling good but the winter came then in December is when i went severe toxic on the lithiem!! so it kinda wiped my mind clear of how i felt before..the only time out of 5 monthes i rember helping my brother with concrete work and moving to my new place in august of 08...so lrt me know how it makes you feel..i sure dont want to sit around and gain 60 pounds thats what i lost in 14 monthes......people say on here that should be ur less worrie but everyone's not the same..keep this in mind  thanks james

yep I work fulltime as a jet engine mechanic and it is my meds that enable me to do this.

That's a pretty good question Jim.  I had fatigue before medication and I know that some medications have made me feel worse and others haven't.  Sometimes it can take a period of adjustment before you begin to feel stable without having side effects.

I agree with you that there are some side effects that make you question whether it is worth taking a particular medication.  I certainly don't want to gain weight because I know I would get depressed about, I hate the fatigue that I get (although as I've said this isn't always down to my meds), I don't want to feel like half a person.

I think there probably has to be a compromise though in order to be well but then again it could be that I haven't found the right medication for me yet.

I'll try whatever the psych advises for me, always with the knowledge that if it doesn't suit me I can try something else - I just hope I don't run out of options!
