red patches

Hi

I have patches on my cheeks on both sides of my nose. My dermatologist said from the sun but I fear it could be from my antipsychotics. Something related to lack of imunity due to 12 years use of antipsychotics. Strange I had none of these patches over the years when my dose was much higher. Now I only take

1mg risperidone, 50mg seroquel and 1mg stelazin (typical antisychotic)

could it be from the seroquel fideling with imunity although I was on 300 for 1 year to get rid of my mania 3 years ago. Anonymous said at very low dose of seroquel it works as antihistamine could this be related

has anybody got these red patches. They are not all over my face. Just near my nose.

thanks
Ezz

Risperdal can sometimes cause skin rashes. Also (and the same is true for other psychiatric medications) it can cause an increased reaction to sunlight. The best thing to do would be to ask your psychiatrist about any concerns about Risperdal. If they don't note anything of concern standard prevention as regards exposure to the sun, including wear a cap, sunscreen and if needed sun glasses can be of help. I have the potential of this reaction from some of my medications as well and have found some of these preventive measures to be of help.
