cyclothemia?

Has any one be diagnosed with cyclothemia.  I have been told this for years from my General Practisioner, but now I'm wondering if I am more bipolar than anything. I feel very alone and it is very difficult to make social plans or commitments as I never know how I'm going to feel. Most of the time  I live like a hermit...never want to come out the house very much unless I have a good day.  I get very stressed out if I have a commitment and it makes me aggitated and irritable with no patience.

The point of meds is to prevent any outbursts occurring. If your doctor recommends you take them constantly then thats what you sahould be doing. If it interferes with your life (guitar playing) then go back to the doctor and discuss it.

My psychologist diagnosed me with cyclothymia so i read up on it, Subsequently my psychiatrist told me i dont have anything wrong with me, im just highly emotional (which pissed me off). But anyway, theres a good website where you can find out lots of information about cyclothymia and both levels of bipolar disorder. Its:
http://www.blackdoginstitute.org.au/public/bipolardisorder/bipolardisorderexplained/index.cfm

You can bring these to the attention of your doctors and take notes on why you think you have bipolar to show them. It may help you get the right diagnosis.

Cyclothymia is basically bipolar with the same depression but without the mania, just with hypomania. Your psychologist should be able to help you with getting your life back together.

I am on Prozac 20m a long time...have tried many different types of antidepressants over the years....since I was 14 years old.   I also take Lorazapham, and I have clonazapham which I take night and morning...She gave me Wellbutrin to take as well.  I took all this for a few days I stopped as it wrecks my guitar playing (I'm in a band)...but now I continue to take my prozac ,  my lorazapham when I have extreme outbursts of emotion, anger, crying....(I take it so I can settle down and hopefully have a nap when this episode happens)  and I have been taking clonazapham at night to help sleep as I've only been getting minimal sleep. I have been so tired...I also have fibromyalgia, sjrogrens, and another connective tissue disease which my Rhemy is not sure of yet....she says it might be Lupus.

Cyclothymia is a mild form of bipolar. Its not an exact clinical term. The medications are still the same. We have some websites linked up about the various mood disorders for information and awareness. Find out more and speak to your psychiatrist about how you could be helped best.

First, I think you need to see a psychiatrist to confirm your diagnosis. Are you on meds? How long? I am BP but I too get anxious and overwhelmed often when I have to go out. I think that many of us experience these feelings and fight with them everyday. I force myself to go out and I go through the motions hoping that I will eventually feel better about what I am doing or where I am. I have spent 6 yrs as a hermit and am determined one way or another to get my life back. Read about your diagnois and how others have dealt with it. I wish you luck.
