getting off xanax

I was tapering off Xanax and was at 0.75 mg when I relapsed to 1.5 mg for 4 days.I wanted to know whether I need to resume tapering at 0.75 mg or resume tapering at 1.5 mg.My doctor is out of town

Thanks Adel I started tapering Xanax and am now on 1.25 mg.I am reducing it by 1/2 a 0.25 mg tablet(0.125 mg) every week and hopefully will reach 0.75 mg soon

there is no logic in tapering off xanax or anything else. if i were you i would try to stabilize at 0.75 for a few days, unless you need it once or twice, that's ok, it happens to everybody, then after a while you try again. it's like going down the stairs no harm done if you meet a platform with no steps or you ascend a few stairs. look at the resultant like they teach us in mechanics, i.e. the whole picture.

usually try to keep your dose less than or equal to 0.75 because this was the dose my pdocs reckon that above it you start getting addicted and suffer from trying giving it up
