hey thanks for all of imput
Sometimes old meds are around because they still work better for some, and they are well tested so all the downsides are already known. With newer pills, some side effects only become known as time goes by and more people try them.
Lithium may or may not be the med for you, only you together with your doctor can decide if it's working or not, and what to try next if it doesn't work out.
Some of the older meds continue to be the best option for some people. As for myself, I was on lithium several years ago for a short time -- it made me gain weight and gave me a horrible rash on my hand. I had to ask the doc to discontinue the lithium -- I've been on several combinations of meds since then -- currently on Lamictal 200mg and Lexapro 20mg and it seems to be helping my bp, at least for now.
Best of luck. Work with your doctor to find out the best combination for you. Tell him any concerns or side effects you have.
Give us more info so we can help. Like how much are you on? Are you eating healthy getting reg rest exercise?NO caffiene or sugar meds and therapy?
I personally do not care for lithium when there are so many other meds.
Remeber too that you did not get this way over night and it will take time to find the right med.
Do all you can to help the meds work there best.
