What are the effects of these substances interacting with each other and with bipolar? NOT GOOD.
I really would advise against it.
There is a delicate chemistry going on in your brain, and messing around with substances could do irreparable damage.
Rather be safe and keep your brain functioning optimally.
Even appetite suppressants can cause mental illness.
I have a friend that got schitzophrenia BECAUSE of drugs.
Very sad.
Good luck!
THANK U SO MUCH for ur information.
They can also intensify the side effects of each other such as when I drank on Geodon I would have to urinate every few seconds or so and felt like I was going through hypertension.
As with any other psychiatric medication they would lessen the effectiveness of them and potentially cause psychosis and mania (especially marijuana) in a person who has a psychiatric disability just by using them so its not worth it.
and that one should rather focus on Omega 3&6 fatty acids, vitamins, adequate rest, physical exercise and mental exercises -
crosswords, suduko, chess, studying or learning new things, dancing, etc etc - just keep the mind busy.
And that bipolar is linked to early onset dementia.
And every time one experiences mania and severe depression - your brain is damaged further.
So it is especially important for us 'bipolarians' to try to keep our moods as stable as possible (ie, no drugs)
I used to drink, smoke, take drugs recreationally - it did not do me any good.
I enjoy every minute at parties now, etc, without any substances - 10 years back I never would have been able to do that.
just made that decision and stuck by if (after many a failed attempt) you just have to keep trying, it's a process - (if that's the way you want to go.
But it can be done and it can be pleasant.
I enjoy MYSELF alot more these days.
No more embarassing behavious that I have to apologise for, no hangover, no downers, it's really awesome - plus, I don't have to worry about driving home intoxicated after a party, and I save money.
Ditching those things was the best route I ever could have gone. I can't believe how dependant I was on those things. but i didn't need them.
Nobody needs them.
If you have problems, they are there regardless of whether you are intoxicated or not - intoxication just makes matters seem so much more complicated - and you don't really get to really 'know' yourself.
ANd that is important for Bipolars - they have '2 sides' of them that they need to get to know - and then on top of it - get to know their intoxicated selves too.
Sorry I'm blabbing on.. I just really have come a long way regarding lifestyle and I'm so happy I did.
Quitting all my unhealthy habits have made a huge positive impact on my life.
I hope you find your comfort zone soon!
and aren't offended by my maybe seemingly pushy message - just sharing!
:-)
