ooops I put I am bipolar 2 rapid cycling. I meant I HAVE bipolar two rapid cycling. You wouldn't say 'I am cancer', so I best not say 'I am bipolar'
For me it was getting on a good set of meds and regulating my sleep. I am bipolar 2 rapid cycling as well. I went through a horrible time. Couldn't work, thought I would lose my mind completely. Turned out it was the antidepressant (Wellbutrin) I was taking. Once I was off of that I settled out a lot. I can even mark 'normal' on my mood chart every now and again.
Wish I had a better answer for you, but for me it was the meds that made the difference. It took me three years to get the right combo of something to help me sleep (trazodone), lamotrigine (mood stabilizer) and Geodone (although I hope to switch that to Abilify as I am having some weight loss issues on the Geodone). Most people I talk with need something to help with sleep and a mood stabilizer. Quite a few need an antipsychotic as well.
And don't let them give up on you. I had on psychiatrist tell me there was nothing more they could do, and he sent me home. This was when I was a suicidal mess! Went to a new psychiatrist and we tried some different medications, ditched the Wellbutrin, and I was helped. Until you have literally tried every medication, don't give up. Body chemistry is so unusual and it is hard to know what will help or not.
You don't mention whether you're receiving medical treatment.
