Period interrupted after starting birth control, is it normal?

I started my period and immediately began taking the birth control pill (it was my first time taking it). My period stopped after three days of taking the pill and it normally lasts up to 5-7 days. Is it normal for the birth control to interrupt your period? Or should I be concerned about this?
