Hello! I have a post in another area of this site, too, but I just want to have piece of mind. I have felt nauseous for the past 4 or 5 days and have missed my period, which should have started around the second week of March. I'm also quite light-headed and dizzy. Every time I move, I feel like I'm going to puke and I often have that salivating sensation you usually get right before you throw up. Nothing in the realm of food or drink sounds appealing to me, so I have limited consumption of everything. Occasionally, I get cramps that feel like I should be having my period, but I'm not bleeding at all. I have had a copper IUD for a little over a year and usually have a very heavy period every 28 days or so. This is the first time I have missed one.
I'm taking a pregnancy test tomorrow, but I keep reading that people have had negative results with ectopic pregnancy and still ended up pregnant! I'm also really nervous because I am living in rural Japan right now and have no idea what it might be like to go to the gynecologist with this kind of concern! Should I try to remove the IUD myself? Should I have it removed regardless of whether I am pregnant or not? Are the risks of pregnancy with an IUD greater than I was told? It seems to be fairly common! I'm very concerned. . .
