Dark brown discharge

I've been on birth control for almost 3 months, and have taken the route of rolling them over to avoid my period, seeing as you only need it 4 times a year, and lately, I've discovered dark brown discharge coming from my vagina, which is not my period, and am wondering what that might be and if it has to do with my birth control. There has also been a large amount of itchiness in that area for months, but this is the first time this has happened .help. Please.

Brown blood is old blood. Usually after 3 months you will have breakthrough bleeding. Mine was usually not alot but it started off a darker brown then later on turn red.

There is nothing wrong with suppressing your period but I would see your gyno to just check you out to ease your mind.
