I took the mini pill for a long time and didn't have any problems. I just got really tired of having to take a pill every day so I switched to Mirena (which is also progestin only) and I like it better because it cut down on my bleeding significantly.
For me, the mini pill didn't have any side effects that I can recall. You just have to be very sure you take it religiously at the exact same time every day because with that one, the pregnancy protection goes out the window if you don't take it at exactly the same time every day. If you can train yourself to do that by setting an alarm on your phone or something then you should be fine.
I had the implant for 3 yrs. I never had any side effects from it. But everybody different. The reason I went on it cause the doctor said it wouldn't effect my fertility when it was out and at that time wasn't ready for another baby.
