birth control

I have been on birth control for 6-7 years, about a month or 2 ago i was switched from ortho lo to a generic (tri-previfem), I have been having issues with weight gain and bloating. Could this be caused by the birth control? I exercise daily and still have problems with losing weight. I dont know what to do?

Hi,
thanks for query.

Birth control pills in many patients leads to retention of water and salt in the body and that leads to increase in weight. Please also check your thyroid status. Change in the formulation can lead to gastric discomfort. Please take antacid as per need.

Wishing you good health
