Hello there,

Weight gain is a common side effect of birth control pills. Personally I
wouldn't advise taking bc pills. Other possible side effects are stroke,
heart attack, and other very serious conditions. I took bc pills for a number
of years In my twenties.  The birth control pills usually come in a pill pack
with a long pamphlet explaining possible side effects. Well, one day I
decided to read the pamphlet. I discovered to my horror that bc pills could
cause a stroke , heart attack, etc. I told my doctor at that time what I had
read and she confirmed it. That day I stopped taking bc pills and started
using other forms of birth control. My husband at that time totally understood my concerns. Good luck finding a safer bc method.
