6 year old painful bruise, what do I do?

13 years ago, I tore the peronial tendons in my left leg, just above the ankle. At the time, they said I would have less range of motion if they stapled it than if it healed on it's own. So no stapling.

6 years ago, I smacked the same spot on the metal corner of a bedframe. To this day, it is still as sore as when I initially injured it, still shows bruising, and has a goose egg about 2" across.

My primary doctor just says "I don't know, legs take a long time to heal" when I ask about it. But I really feel that six years is an excessively long time. It swells up more when I'm on my feet a lot, and gets so painful that even socks hurt. I can't walk very far when it gets swollen.

I would like an idea of what sort of doctor WOULD know something about this, as my primary hasn't a clue, and I feel it needs to be addressed as it is limiting my mobility quite a lot.

I do not think any muscle/skin/bone damage should take years to heal, well anything as "simple" as you describe.   I suppose crushing injuries could take years to heal if they heal at all.

You symptom doesn't sound like a "blood disorder" to me, best I can come up with is "undiagnosed symptoms" community.  You  may what to try a post there: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Undiagnosed-Symptoms/show/95

Forgot to say (and I don't see an edit function)

Bloodwork was all normal, and I'm allergic to aspirins and NSAIDS so have not taken any of those.
