Hematoma...

I hit my right shin at work on Memorial Day (yes, Memorial Day back in May) and at first I thought I just had I bad bruise, but it didn't go away in the next three weeks, not really, the swelling only went down a little. So I decided it was a hematoma just not likely very severe. Within another three weeks all the swelling had gone down and the discoloration shrunk considerably from the entire shin to a spot on my gastrocnemius. Since then there has been little to no change, the spot is still discolored like a fresh bruise, only slightly tender to touch.

Any ideas why this has not healed yet?

I am not on blood thinners nor have I ever been. I have not re-injured my leg to the best of my knowledge. I don't typically bruise easily.

Also do you have any recommendations for either treating this or going to see a medical professional?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
A bruise can persist due to poor blood supply, torn ligaments, a bone bruise or due to repeated pressure at the bruise point. Since it has been persisting since May, please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!

I also wanted to add that I was unable to put full weight on my foot for four days about two weeks prior to the injury mentioned above I however had full return of rotation and no soreness by the this time, I believe I pulled my soleus while running. Could this be pertinent to why my hematoma has not subsided?
