Swollen Thumb!

for no reason whatsoever, my thumb began to tingle, swell, became numb and bruised.  I went along to A&E who xrayed it, took blood tests but could find no cause.  They strapped my thumb up and this morning it seemed to be a little bit better.  Then this afternoon it all started again. I also started to feel dizzy.   Does anyone have any suggestions?

I bowled Thursday night and my thumb didn't seem to bother me until a day or two later. My thumb is swollen and it hurts to bend it. It actually has a burning sensation on the touch of it. The pain is on the inside of the thumb. Will soaking it with Epson salt help?

Hi!
A localized bruising, swelling and pain in thumb can be due to infection, bleeding blood vessels, injury, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis or inflammation of the lining of joints, arthritis or due to tendonitis. You need non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, along with something to bring down the swelling. An X-ray may not reveal anything if there is no fracture. You may need blood tests and MRI. You need to consult a rheumatologist. Take care!
