How getting help/treatment for bpd has helped?

Hi, I'm 40 and have been living with a lot of bpd symptoms as long as I can remember. If I was to seek professional help how would it change my daily life and struggles? What can I expect to get out of it?

I go to a phycologists and it helps a lot. She's very understanding and let's me express all my feelings and such. She also gives advice and ways to help me calm myself down even before my "episode" would start. Worth a shot! But don't just go once, at least five times till you decide to try someone new or stop. !
