Am I Ever Gona Get Better?

Pituitary Tumors? Is there such thing as making a full recovery and leading a normal life?

What causes these? can it happen to anyone at any age? Can i have children in the future?

Am due for surgery on 8 weeks and i am very scared.

Please can someone who has had the operation give me some reassurance you can recover from this.......

the tumour is 1mm. my body is not tolerating any form of medication wotsever. i have tried them all turn by turn for over two years now. my bloods show i now also have low thyroid levels for which i am taking levothyroxine. Prolactin levels are 5000 + (uk scale, i think in the states its calculated differently)

please help.....

Yes. It is possible to recover.
Keep in mind that the people that are using forums, like this one, are people who are having problems still. So it "seems" like no one is healthy here.

I have a sis-in-law who had a small prolactinoma that recovered, went on to have three beautiful chidren and is virtually unaffected by her prolactinoma aside from annual MRI's and lab work. She is not on forums because her prolactinoma is not even on her mind. There are thousand like her.

Alas, the cause is unknown unless you have a genetic disorder such as one of the MENs - multiple endocrine neoplasia type x.
They can happen at any age. I know of children born with some types.
I have had the surgery and had many other types - the pit surgery was frankly was the easier ones!

You will have to be monitored for the rest of your life. If your periods go back to normal, you may be able to have children, or with help from other meds to force a period (which they cannot do know as it may make the tumor grow). Birth and breast feeding may make the tumor come back though so you need to weigh your risks as even one cell left behind can be an issue.

Some people can have kids, some cannot.
