Male with elevated Prolactin levels?

Hello folks,

I am a 27 year old male.
For several years I've suffered from a lack of libido and erectile dysfunction. I suffer from anxiety so always put it down to that but suspected something wasn't quite right so had some blood taken at a private practice.

The results came back as follows:

TSH 0.70 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.2)
Prolactin 397 mIU/L (86 - 324)
Testosterone 21.3 nmol/L (7.6 - 31.4)
SHBG 35 nmol/L (16 - 55)

The only abnormality was the Prolactin with the rest being about mid-range. I had expected the results to come back fine and not entirely sure what to do.

The question I would like to ask is:

Are the levels high enough for me to go see my doctor or is it perfectly normal?

Thanks very much.

Elevated prolactin will also contribute to anxiety, so fixing that can fix many things.

I would go see your doctor - an endo - and get an MRI. I would also get a better thyroid work up (TSH only is about 25% or less or the whole pic).

It can be raised by medications like anti-depressants.

I had a prolactinoma and my levels were barely above normal. And sometimes normal.
