Pituitary cyst hyper intense could be adenoma

MRI showed Pituitary cysts or "could be" functional adenomas.  I have two hyper intense areas in my pituitary gland.  Both are anterior, one just right of center and the other off to the left.  My cortisol was elevated during a 24 hour urine test as was the corticosteroid. I suppressed during the low dex two day test.  My serum cortisol was normal.  Blood tests also showed high RDW and low iron saturation.  I am waiting  for my endocrinologist to find the next step; if there is one.  Should I see a neurologist to investigate the areas on my pituitary or  just forget about them like my endocrinologist hinted at.

Your doctor does not know his ... from his elbow. Find a doctor that knows pituitary. It is possible to have two lesions up there - I had two - I had a tumor twin that had two and I know many others that had two. It is not common, but it does happen. The MRI report would have said cyst if they were cysts and even if it is was a cyst, you would need treatment, again proving that your endummy has the skill of a 2 year old.

Find a doctor that knows Cushing's and knows pituitary tumors. Get more testing.

I had the test 8 AM...I'm getting concerned again because I was feeling better but now the anxiety is back(AM is the worst).  Pain in wrist is back which means the aches and pain will return shortly.  Sweating is getting worse and I am urinating like crazy ( I used to go to bed having to go to the bathroom and wait til morning) so this is very unusual.  Feeling of fullness in the chest and upper abdomen are back.

Doctor told me since the two areas were hyper intense(MRI) they are probably cysts and of no significance. When I was feeling better I just assumed he was right...now I'm not so sure.  I have had DVTs and pulmonary emboli in the past and I know Cushings can make some people hyper coaguable...I am on blood thinners (10yrs now) and want answers faster then docs are willing to move.

Your endo is judging you on the suppression test. That test is very unreliable. I suppressed on every dex test and I still had it as well as hundreds of my friends. Serum cortisol can be normal as it is a point in time test so if you just did not happen to be high at the time, it would be normal. What time was that serum taken?

A neurologist does NOT know how to treat Cushing's. You must find someone who does. A neuro-endocrinologist knows how to treat pituitary tumors. You need to see that doctor as  you need more testing as you may have a different tumor. For example, I had both Cushing's and a prolactinoma so I had mixed symptoms and you have two tumors too so you either have a barbell, or two tumors which may be the same or different.

Find a neuro-endo - one that knows Cushing's.
