That can be treated with medication. Why are they doing surgery?

What kind of pituitary tumor?
Is it secreting, non-secreting, micro or macro? Is it wrapped around anything like the carotids or near the optic nerved?
Did you get a copy of the pathology from before?
Are you using the same surgeon, and has he done many second surgeries, which, BTW, are harder due to scar tissue and changed anatomical markers.
Considerations are - what kind of tumor - at this stage of the game, you should know the type, size, and if there are alternate treatments such as radiation (which to me is last ditch, but it depends too on size and the risk factors), as well as surgeon skill as you needed a great one last time but a super great one this time.
I understand this as my tumor came back. I had Cushing's disease though - and instead opted for adrenal removal as in my case, it made sense. However, it would not work in every case, and so there are a lot of factors at work.
What type of tumor do you have - there are many kinds - prolactinoma, Cushing's, acromegaly, TSH, LH/FSH, Craniopharyngiomas, plus there are other disorders - so you have to know as treatments differ. Size over 10mm is important to know, but small tumors can cause a lot of symptoms.
Do you have copies of your tests and reports?
