2 needle aspirations in same spot now spot is worrisome

In 2007, I developed a large, painful cyst on the side of my right breast.
The breast surgeon who drained it said I had a large amt of tissue there where the cyst grew from.
He said it might grow back.

In 2012, it grew back in same spot. Had all the tests and it was drained again.
Went back 6 months later to do a ultrasound and everything was a go.

Just got my new insurance on Jan 1 and went to the new dr to get a referral to have my mammogram.
She gave me a breast exam and didn't say a word.

Had a regular mammogram the following week and the technician said she could see that spot in my right breast and "not to freak out".
They did not have my previous records at this time as they were being sent from out of state so I was trying to quickly tell her about my history with that spot.

Needles to say, when my dr got the mammogram report, she had me sent in for a diagnostic mammo and ultrasound.
Had the tests done yesterday, and I am being sent for a biopsy. Have it on Friday.
The radiologist said the spot is "worrisome". She said it "could" be scar tissue from my past procedures, but I just don't know what to think. And to top it all off, they STILL didn't have my previous records, so again, I'm sitting there trying to hurriedly tell this radiologist about what's been done to this spot.

What I am upset about is nobody in the last 5 years ever told me this place in my breast where these cysts came from could give me cancer.

I am still waiting for results. The tech who aided in the biopsy told me the results would be in around 12:30 Monday and they would be sent to my dr.
Nobody has called as of yet (3:00 pm)

I have a pre-set appt with a breast specialist tomorrow.

I also have had breast cysts that come & go on their own.  Although I hadn't had one in 5 years, I have them now.  Same spot & extremely painful & large.  I want to go for an ultrasound but the thought of anyone or anything touching my breast makes me want to cry.  Actually I can tell you that they would have to put me out.

Anyway, have you had your results back? I'm hoping that everything is ok for you.

Btw, I'm 47 & peri menopausal so I'm hoping these cysts are related to that.  I just cut out coffee as of yesterday & waiting to see if I can get rid of this on my own as I have done in the past.

Wishing us luck & prayers....

I had my biopsy done this morning. The lady that did the biopsy said it's possible it could be scar tissue from previous procedures but of course have to wait for results.
The tech told me the size of the dense tissue is about 5cm but she didn't know how much of that is shadowing. It's not a circular thing either. I was told 5 yrs ago by a breast surgeon about this large thing of tissue where my former cysts grew from. I even had some small cysts around this area this morning.
I'm hoping this is just something from breast changes.

Cysts are related to Hormone levels in the body; often it is advised to cut down on the intake of Caffeine which sometimes helps. Cysts do often recur but they are a benign condition just like Fibroadenomas (benign breast tumors) and many women have this Fibrocystic Breast Condition. This can be present in women from teens well into adulthood and beyond.  Regards ....

I'm hoping and praying my history of cysts in this spot will just show some tissue change since I'm 43 now.
Both large cysts that grew in this spot were very large and painful and both were drained and both showed up during my period. I still get a twinge in the area during my period where I get scared the cyst will grow back, but it hasn't since 2012.

I'm still scared.

That is being cautious and giving you the best of care and that's what you want. No matter how slight, any and everything should be explored until a definite conclusion is reached. Consider yourself fortunate to be receiving such excellent Medical Care. Please let us know your results after your biopsy.  Take care ...

Thanks for the comment.

They called me back today to say that the radiologist got my previous reports but still wants me to have the biopsy. Apparently there is a change in this spot so the biopsy is a go.

I'm not sure why you are thinking that this might be cancer .... cysts do NOT turn into cancer. I would suspect that the area is most likely scar tissue from your previous procedures. Keep in mind that anything seen on film in the breast tissue needs to be investigated and this is exactly what is being done. A delay since your previous films were done in another state is certainly understandable. When you move to another state it's a good idea to have copies of important health records to take with you ... this prevents delays such as this. I'm sure you will have a definite answer when you get the biopsy report. I certainly see no reason to assume that a "worrisome" spot would be cancer.   Regards ....
