I certainly agree with the Dr. that a BIRAD 5 needs to be biopsied ASAP. My personal experience was a surgical consult 2 days following the mammogram and the biopsy done 5 days after that. This is certainly nothing to put off until after the Holidays ..... just because you have had a previous benign finding does NOT mean that you will this time. Please DO NOT delay this biopsy !!

Do you already have the official result of your mammogram?
A BIRADS score of 5 means highly suspicious of malignancy and an appropriate action needs to be done. You should bring the official result to your doctor for appropriate action. A biopsy needs to be done as soon as possible in order to have a more definite diagnosis. If there is indeed a diagnosis of malignancy, further treatment needs to be done. Early stage breast cancer is curable.
