Birad 5 how soon must I act on biopsy?

I recently had a Mammogram and the technician said I was at least a Birad 5. I have had Micro calsifications before that turned out to be nothing. As we are rapidly approaching the Holidays I am looking at having the Biopsy done right after the first of the year. I know this will be a guess but how much chance am I taking by waiting.

I certainly agree with the Dr. that a BIRAD 5 needs to be biopsied ASAP. My personal experience was a surgical consult 2 days following the mammogram and the biopsy done 5 days after that. This is certainly nothing to put off until after the Holidays ..... just because you have had a previous benign finding does NOT mean that you will this time. Please DO NOT delay this biopsy !!

Hi.
Do you already have the official result of your mammogram?
A BIRADS score of 5 means highly suspicious of malignancy and an appropriate action needs to be done.  You should bring the official result to your doctor for appropriate action.  A biopsy needs to be done as soon as possible in order to have a more definite diagnosis.  If there is indeed a diagnosis of malignancy, further treatment needs to be done.  Early stage breast cancer is curable.
Good luck.
