I'm new to this. I just had a breast cyst aspirated on my left breast. During the aspiration, the doctor mentioned my cyst was solid and had to do a biopsy. My concern is that there still is a cyst where I had the aspiration. It refilled. Should I be concerned?
If the lesion was a cyst and it was aspirated, then you won't require a biopsy. The fluid from the cyst will be analyzed, but the likelihood of it being anything malignant is minimal. The BIRADS report was written BEFORE the lesion was identified through ultrasound and the cyst was aspirated. But now that it has been confirmed as a cyst and aspirated, you are in good shape. I had numerous cysts aspirated over the years and that was the end of it until the next cyst showed up on a mammogram. You may develop other cysts and this one may fill with fluid again, but cysts are benign. They can be painful and need to be aspirated, but they are not malignant. I'm happy for your results.
I would think with the rating of 4 (midly suspicious) a biopsy might be the next step to determine with certainty if it is benign or malignant. I'm sure more information will be forthcoming with the final Pathology report. Regards ....
