Discordant Result-Help Understanding

So after a CBE, Mammogram an d Ultrasound Core Needle Biopsy, I have been informed my Dx is "discordant"

Details: I found a lump in my breast, upon exam by Dr Found 3cm rubbery movable mass.
Mammogram showed dense breast tissue with an impression of a partially obscured mass.
Ultrasound showed 3-4 cm lesion for which a core biopsy was taken (2 samples).
Pathology stated no significant microscopic abnormalities found.
So my question would be what could the mass be? Has this happened to anyone else?
I am wondering if it is possible the biopsy missed the mass or could the mass be made up of a mixture of health cells and cancerous ones? While the physical finds do not suggest any malignancy.

Oops forgot to mention that I am not keen on the open biopsy option as the surgeon informed me there would be a good chance my breast may be deformed after( as I have "small" breasts) .
Thanks again"

Thanks for the response.

The path report did in fact say "no significant microscopic abnormalities found".

The surgeon who is following my case has recommended an open excision biopsy. He explained to me "discordant" was due to physical exam and US Leading him to belief it was a fibroademona however the Core Needle biopsy did not confirm this.  He has also said he could not rule out cancer at this point.  I have asked for a second core needle biopsy with US so hopefully I will know more soon. Hi, Bellydancer8,
Do you have an actual copy of the path report? If not, I would recommend getting it along with the mammo & US reports. I have had 3 biopsies and never had a report just say "no significant microscopic abnormalities found". There has always been a detailed description of what was found, not what wasn't found. The mass could be any number of benign findings: fibrocystic changes, fibroadenoma, radial scar, adenosis, etc. Statistically, most masses are benign.
On the good side, obviously no malignancy was found, so be happy for that. If the biosy was done under US guidance the chances of missing a 3-4 cm lesion are really, really slim. The only way to know for sure that the mass wasn't a mixture of healthy and cancerous cells would be to have the whole mass removed and examined by a pathologist.
I would talk to my surgeon and ask all the questions you feel you need to ask and get his/her advice. Is this who told you the diagnosis was
"discordant"? They should be able to explain what was meant and what is recommended now. Maybe all that is needed is follow up mammo in a shorter timeframe than annually. You can also always seek a second opinion if you aren't satisfied with the results of your consultation.
Wish I had more to offer you but this is all I can recommend right now based on what you wrote. I'm sending my best wishes for a good outcome for you.
