Elevated ALP

Hi
I had BC two years ago surgery, rads x 30m, 8mm, hormone positive, grade 2, no nodes. Since treatment have had ovaries out and take femara.  Today returned slightly elevated ALP liver enzyme test of 123.  Should I be totally freaking out about this.  Does this indicate that I could have progression to my bones.  If not what can cause a change in this test.  I have recently lost 5kg by exercising and watching what I eat. Doctor said come back in three months and if still elevated will do ct scan. I have never needed a scan so how can I believe him and not worry because if it will warrant a ct scan in three months then it might be cancer.

Sorry I am really worried.

Thank you for your reply
Annette

EVEN IF YOUR ONCOLOGIST DID NOT MENTION THIS TO YOU, HE IS PROBABLY MORE CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT LOSS  THAN THE OTHER. AND EVEN IF YOU TOLD HIM YOU HAVE BEEN TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT, THEY STILL WORRY ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS.

ALP elevations can be related to various conditions such as liver disease, bone disease, hyperparathyroidism, and mono, and also can be associated with  numerous medications. They don't tell  a lot, unless correlated with other clinical findings.

I know that it is difficult not to worry about recurrence anytime something changes, but try not to "totally" freak yet.

I think your Dr.'s approach is reasonable, but if you are not comfortable with his recommendation, you might "negotiate" to repeat the test in 4-6 weeks rather than 3 months.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Best wishes...
