Fat necrosis?

I had a breast reduction 18 months ago.  I found a lump 6 months after sugery on my scar line just below the nipple.  I had a mammogram and ultrasound done and nothing was found.   I went to my gyne 2 weeks ago and he ordered another mammogram and ultrasound.  These came back normal too.  He insisted I see a surgeon to evaluate it.  I did and he believes that it is fat necrosis but is not sure and doing a breast biopsy on the 9th.  I am so nervous.  What are the chances that of a lump not showing up on a mammography but then is cancer?

Hi.  Good news to share....mine came back as fat necrosis.  Phew.  Such a relief.  Waiting for results is the worst part.  Try to think positive!  Good luck.

Hi, I am in the same boat. I had reduction 15 months and biopsy too which came back normal and now I have a small, squishy painless lump (plus two more) by nipple and awaiting tests.

My breast cancer (invasive lobular carcinoma) didn't show up on a mammogram but a tiny piece was found with ultrasound. The MRI is what really showed all of it for me. If you look at the mammography form you have to sign it states that it doesn't pick up all types of cancer.
Don't fear the biopsy and try not to worry about the lump until you have a reason to, ok? Best wishes :)
