Level 4 Microcalcifications Biopsy

I had 2 biopy's yesterday on 1 breast. It was uncomfortable.  I now have to wait 2 days for the results.  I can't believe that this calcification increased from last year to the point of my having to go through this.  I'm a nervous wreck.  If it were cancer, wouldn't the doctors have told me.  I've been going through this for almost 1 month now.

SO happy to hear about your benign results and just wanted to add my good wishes for future health and happiness! We so often get bad news, that it's always nice to hear the good news, too! I also wanted to thank you
for your encouraging words to starla12---we all need and appreciate that sometimes.
Hugs,

Hang in there and try not to worry too much--- easier said than done, I know.  Yes, calcifications can increase from one year to the point of needing biopsy---it happened to me, also. Zouzi is right that there's no way to tell if the microcalcifications are benign not until the pathology report is in. As Motorisssaid, it should help to know that about 80% of biopsies end up with benign results and the odds are in your favor. Try to stay positive and take one step at a time. I just wanted to add my best wishes and hopes for an easy biopsy and benign results.
Sending you a hug from Michigan (       ),

I too had a biopsy last week due to clustered microcalcifications. I too was a nervous wreck waiting! Today I was told it was all good, benign  and normal. (Woohoo!)  I have been trawling the net looking for info over the past week and read some many posts where the results aren't so positive and understandably these ladies are seeking more information. I just wanted to post this to let you and any other ladies out there know that I was told by the breast surgeon (vastly experienced) that MOST calcifications are harmless. So take a deep breath and tell yourself that the odds are well and truly in your favour ! Good luck.

Hi,
A doctor cannot say for sure if the calcification is benign or not.Radiologist study the films and recommend a biopsy when the calcification look suspicious or highly suspicious. No one can know for sure what these calcification represent, until the tissue extracted is examined by a pathologist,to establish a confirmed diagnosis and also to rule out malignancy.
Waiting for the results is nerve wrecking,I know....but please, try to stay calm and keep in mind that the vast majority of suspicious calcification BIRADS 4,are found to be benign when biopsied and I hope the same will be for you too.
Wishing you all the best and good luck!
