Hi,

An RN friend of mine mentioned this test to me.  It sounds like it involves genetic testing (expensive), and promises to offer an individualized treatment plan (or at least be helpful with that).  

Has anyone here used it, or do any of the MD's involved know about it?

Already had 2 opinions, and planning my next move.

I'm not sure about the availability but from my understanding it's usually done on those with early stage, node positive cancers. I believe I saw the figure of $3800 or so ... quite expensive to my way of thinking. There were a couple clinical trials but I don't know if they are ongoing at this time. It seemed to me that one of the trials was against the Oncotype DX ....which was the better predictor.

Thank you so much.  Do you know if it's available to anyone?  Expensive?  I'm waiting right now to see if my insurance will cover the BRAC (?) genetic test--if not, it's $3200.00

It is one of the newer Genetic Profile Tests; similar to the Oncotype DX that is used fairly frequently. Used to determine if Chemo would be necessary after the initial treatment (surgery with or without Radiation). In node positive cases it is said to predict, by some measure, metastisis to another part of the body. I believe it was FDA approved early last year.
