Mom Had Mammogram to Ultrasound

Hello, I'm a daughter who is just very concerned for her mother. So a couple of weeks ago my mom went to have a mammogram done because she has this lump on the lower left breast closer to the bra line. She let me feel it and at the time it felt pretty big but squishy almost. At that moment though she hadn't received her period and it was growing in size. But on her day of the mammogram her period came. Of course, right! Anyway they sent her a letter to go back and have a follow up mammogram. Well she ended up getting a mammogram and an ultrasound. I was scared because I didn't know what was happening. But earlier today she showed me the lump and I can barely feel it. She told me that after her period it went down a lot. They haven't given her the results or anything but I'm terrified. I hope you all can help me out a little. Thank you so much for hearing me out.

Thank you so much for responding quickly and I'll be sure to get her to follow your tips. She had been in a lot of pain but I asked her and she says it doesn't hurt much anymore. Again thanks for your kind words. I appreciate it :)

Hi,
Please don't worry,I am sure your mom does not have breast cancer.
Cysts are very common and almost every woman will have some during her lifetime.
Breast cysts can appear at any age, in teenagers as well as in older women.Simple cysts are related to the increasing hormonal (estrogen) fluctuation and are harmless.
Your mom most probably has a cyst and she should not worry, because it almost never turn into cancer.,but she should  make sure to have regular screening as recommended by her doctor to check for any changes..
The simple cysts are fluid filled sacs that do not need any treatment. However if they become too enlarged and painful,a needle aspiration will usually resolve the problem.
Tell your mom to avoid  foods and beverages containing caffeine, such as coffee, tea, chocolate and soft drinks, because it can decrease water retention and may help shrink the cyst and alleviate discomfort if she has breast pain.
You could call the Radiology department and ask for the results which, I am sure, are negative (no cancer)
All the best to both of you....
