Mondor's Disease

I was just diagnosed with Mondor's but am very confused.  I have looked up the disease on the internet, read quite a bit but it does not sound like what I have.   Is it possible to have Mondor's but have a lump, not a cordlike band?  I have had no trauma to the breast, no suregery or procedures, everything was fine, I went for my yearly breast exam and it was normal. About 1 week later, I was in the shower and noticed a dimpling of the skin.  I felt around and felt a very distinct lump.  I talked to my doctor that day and she said it might be a cyst and since my mammogram was only 4 days away, to wait and see what it said. My mammogram was normal, so she set up an ultrasound.  The US results came back saying "there is a lump at the 1 o'clock position that is hypoechoic without blood flow.  It is fairly smoothly marginated and is wider than tall, measures 1.2 x 0.3 x 0.7 cm.  This lesion could be evaluated with ultrasound-guided biopsy given the fact that there appears to be dimpling in this area.  If it is elected not to perform biopsy, follow up of this lesion with ultrasound in 3 months is recommended"  My provider set up a visit to a surgeon and I went today and he diagnosed Mondor's.  So, I had never heard of it before and decided to read up on it.  I am really confused about the conflicting opinions here.   I have not had pain at the site, I have pain under my arm just under the armpit, but the area of the lump is pain free.  If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.  I am now being set up for a second opinion but wonders if anyone else has Mondor's that presented this way or knows what is going on....  Thanks!

Thanks for answering.  Yes, I do know unfortunately that there is not treatment for Mondor's.  But I did not know that the pain did not need to be at the area of the swelling.  I have had quite a bit of pain, but did not know where it came from.  So that explains it.  Thanks again!!!

The pain need not necessarily be at the site of the swelling; this condition is a benign finding caused by a blood clot that results in the hardening of a vein near the skin surface of the breast. I think a second opinion is definitely a good idea since a biopsy was suggested by the Radiologist. Since you state that you have done some research I'm sure you know that there isn't any specific treatment for Mondor's and it usually goes away after a few weeks. Regards ....
