The type of biopsy depends much on the size of the area as well as the location. As far as a needle biopsy; often this does not give sufficient samples to obtain a 100% definite diagnosis. Many excisional biopsies are done for various reasons; none of them foolish I might add. Two surgeries isn't all that uncommon .... even with biopsy and then lumpectomy there may still be an additional surgery to obtain clean margins. Actually you have already had a lumpectomy and I would want to know for certain that clean margins were NOT obtained before I would agree to further surgery. From the comment made by the new Dr. I believe I would have stayed with my original Surgeon. I personally chose a General Surgeon (locally) and had access to any Surgeon at any location in the U.S. and have never regretted it for one moment. The choice of course is yours.   Regards .....
