Three weeks ago I had an open biopsy for a 15mm lesion on the upper right side (approx 5cm above the nipple at 11 o'clock). More tissue than expected was removed at the time and no malignant tissue was found however i have been asked to return in 3 months for further assessment as the surgeon "was not sure he got the right spot" despite it being a hook wire procedure due to the subtle nature of the lesion. Anyway, the wound appear to be healing well, there is a lump behind it which I was told to expect, and only a little discomfort. My concern is that on the left hand side of the same breast what appears to be bruising has appeared in the last few days. It started as a small area, but has over the last few days grown to cover around a third of the breast, including the nipple and is heading toward the operation site. It is not painful as such but has a mild burning sensation. Is this normal - what is it? I can't get in to see my surgeon for at least four days and my GP is on holidays.
