Problems after tram flap

I wondered if anyone has experienced leg issues after a tram flap.  I had a tram flap in 1997 my right stomach muscle was cut and brought up to form a left breast  ( really just a mound of round flesh not a breast) .  When I came home from the hospital I was never able to squat down correctly or bend with my knees and now that I am older it is just getting harder.  I've regretted having the tram flap since the day I had it.  I feel constricted at my abdomen most of the time and have the stomach bulge. If I want to get something in a bottom cupboard I have to get down on my knees then to get back I have to crawl over to a table  or other support to pull myself up when I was younger I had more energy but now I don't. I limp a lot on my right leg.  I just wonder if anyone else has had similar problems and what type of doctors have you gone to.

I would describe it as my abdomen feels constricted most of the time and it bulges like I look pregnant on one side.

So happy to find you!  I had a bilateral TRAM done in 1999 - I don't have any leg issues, but I struggle with bulging abdomen (I look 4 months pregnant), abdominal discomfort, pressure, bloating, gas - no one wants to open my abdomen as the risks outweigh the benefits.  Do you have any comments about the abdomen?

I have not had any personal experience with tram-flap surgery but you certainly are not alone in having had problems with this type of surgery. At this point since your surgery was so long ago the only thing I can think of that might be of some help is to see a Physical Therapist. I'm sure there would be some type of exercise program that would help you to some degree. You might have gotten more benefit if this were done earlier but from what you say, any measure of relief would be well worth the effort. Regards ....
